What is found in the deserts of the American Southwest is truly Amazing. Scattered along the canyon walls of most southwestern states are ancient petroglyphs. Petroglyphs are a combination of writing, symbols, and pictures used to communicate messages by the ancient inhabitants of the deserts.
One such occurrence is at a historic site called Newspaper Rock. Not only did the Anasazi people leave their writings, but so did settlers of the American West who were pioneer homesteaders or those just passing through.
If you just look around you, there is a story waiting to be told in stone on any canyon wall in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and California.
